Carson's 15th month appointment!
Carson just had his 15 month check-up earlier this week! It was the first appointment where he hated the doctor poking and prodding him. And of course, he hated the shots. :( He just cried and shook his head "no" the whole time. You'd think I'd get used to it - him getting shots and crying - but I don't. It kills me every time! The only time during the whole appointment that Carson wasn't unhappy and crying was when the doctor handed him a new book to keep. His whole face lit up! That kid loves books!
He's doing great though! He weighs 23.8 pounds (70th percentile). And he's 31 1/4 inches long (50th percentile), and his head circumference is 47 inches (50th percentile). My little boy has gotten SO BIG! I'm honestly surprised he doesn't weigh even more, though; because carrying him kills my back these days!
Carson is saying all sorts of things now. He says "da-da" for Alex (and when he's particularly happy). He's starting to kind of associate "ma-ma" for me, but mostly he just says it when he's really tired or upset. He'll also say "ba-ba" for bottle (or he'll just point to it and get really excited!). Sometimes he'll say "wa-wa" for water. He's also working on saying "up," which is getting clearer and clearer! Carson loves pointing at new things and saying "wha...da?" for what's that. Occasionally, for hat, Carson will say "aat." And he's constantly babbling, and it's just the sweetest music to my ears. :)
It's been astounding me how much more Carson is understanding, too. I can ask him where a specific toy is, and he can dig through his whole toy box to find it. Instead of telling him "no" lately, we've been changing his attention to something else by saying, "Carson, can you bring me your hat?" It works almost every time to get him to stop doing whatever he shouldn't be doing. haha!
He's still not super interested in walking. Sometimes he'll just stand up in the middle of the room and just stand for the longest time! He sure has great balance! And lots of times, he'll start walking and when he realizes what he's doing, he sits down immediately. He can walk a good 8-10 steps though. But for now, crawling still gets him places faster!
He goes to bed about 7:30 pm and usually doesn't want to get up and out of his crib until 10:30 the next morning! (He'll wake up sometime between 8 and 9 am, plays for a while, and ends up falling back asleep for a little while.) It makes for a grateful pregnant mama, that's for sure! And even on top of that, he will still take a 2-3 hour nap in the early afternoon!
Carson loves food and still gets pretty crabby if he's hungry. He's not too picky of an eater, until it comes to vegetables. Lately the only veggie he'll eat is tomatoes. He's been sort of working on eating with a spoon, but really, the spoon is just a shiny new play toy!
He's basically doing great, and we love him more and more everyday! :) He's so much fun and has such a big heart and personality. So often he'll just come up to me or Alex and just snuggle or give hugs or kisses. He's doing that all the time with the baby, too - lifting my shirt so he can see my belly, and then snuggling his head up to my belly and giving it kisses. It's the sweetest thing! And as for his personality, well, it's pretty obvious from these pictures. :)
